Sean Sherk Suspension From UFC

Sean Sherk Suspension From UFC

Sean Keith Sherk, the retired American mixed martial artist and former UFC Lightweight Champion, was considered by many as one of the greatest UFC lightweight competitors of his era.

Sean was banned by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after he tested positive for Nandrolone metabolites. Sherk tested positive for steroids during his fight on July 7, 2007 at UFC 73 against Hermes Franca, who also tested positive for drugs. Sherk denied doping allegations while Franca admitted to using Drostanolone.

Sherk had won a five-round unanimous decision over Franca. Sherk, the Ultimate Fighting lightweight champion, claimed that errors were made in lab testing procedures. He said proper measures were not implemented in handling vials that were used previously and successfully for positive tests and this was the reason why his sample was contaminated. His suspension was later reduced to six months in place of the original one year. Sean Sherk was stripped by the UFC his Lightweight championships after the CSAC decided to uphold the results of the positive steroid test.

In April 2008, UFC President Dana White announced that Sherk will fight against B.J. Penn who won the title vacated by Sherk. Sean Sherk lost to Penn by TKO in the third around after he failed to answer the fourth round bell. Sherk then fought against Tyson Griffin at UFC 90: Silva vs Cote where he won by unanimous decision in a three-round war that earned him Fight of the Night.

His next fight was against Frankie Edgar at UFC 98 where Sherk lost via unanimous decision. Sherk was suspended after this fight after he ran from the arena before providing a post-fight analysis. His sample tested clean but Sherk was suspended for 45 days for his act.

Sherk formally announced his retirement from MMA fighting on September 2, 2013.

Sean Sherk Caught Using Nandrolone

Sean Sherk, the former UFC lightweight champion, is best known in the world of mixed martial arts for holding one of the longest undefeated streaks in MMA history. Sherk had only four career losses, all of which were to fellow UFC champions. Sherk became the first UFC Lightweight Champion after the lightweight was re-introduced by the UFC. Sherk is well-known in the MMA communities for being part of some of the most important fights in the lightweight division of the UFC.

Sherk tested positive for Nandrolone metabolite and was given a one year suspension by the California State Athletic Commission and was fined $2,500. This was after the Ultimate Fighting lightweight champion failed a drugs test at a July 7, 2007 bout at UFC 73. His compatriot during the bout, Hermes Franca, also tested positive for drugs and was given the same suspension and fine. Franca tested positive for Drostanolone and admitted to doping. Sherk won a five-round unanimous decision over Franca.

The UFC fighter claimed that errors were made in lab testing procedures and stated that he passed three lie detector tests that confirmed his innocence. He claimed the suspension has cost him around$500,000 in prize money, sponsorship and advertising, in addition to $20,000 in legal fees. Sherk, who had vehemently maintained his innocence after he tested positive for 12 ng/ml of Nandrolone, remarked the way the California State Athletic Commission conducted itself was very unprofessional. Sherk’s suspension was later reduced to six months.

Sean Sherk asserted that the laboratory had failed to exercise proper controls and said the vials used in earlier positive tests was not properly tested and this may have resulted in his sample getting contaminated. The California State Athletic Commission and Quest Diagnostics denied any errors. The UFC officially stripped Sean Sherk of his Lightweight championships after the CSAC decided to uphold the results of the positive steroid test.

If you want to buy steroids, it is always better to first gain a complete understanding about the prevailing laws in your country. Also, please do take medical advice before making use of anabolic androgenic steroids.
